As in our country there's no habit for eating Sea Urchins, you can find plenty of Urchins in the seas of unawatuna. I had the chance to take snaps of some of these. Damn, i wish some chefs of your country cooes to Sri lanka and start cooking these, so that i can try the taste too :) guys, even my country you will find these Sea Urchins (Black Ones) in Unawatuna, Galle. I was traveling in Livorno, Italy yesterday and there was this older gentlemen eating away at them. He graciously let me try one. That was the first time I've ever heard of anyone eating urchin. I bet that was painful. They're delicious if you like raw seafood. The last picture on the post was taken 30 years ago (that's my dad). Notice the huge size of the sea urchins in that photo compared to the other photos above. I didn't notice that until I saw all the pictures together. They seem to be very prolific. Perhaps that's due to there being a season for them, which I didn't know about.
