Flash Packing Gear
These are some of the gadgets I consider essential travel gear.
To protect your laptop when traveling through Europe and other parts of the world, you will need a surge protector. I use EuroSurge, available at Magellan’s and other online shops. EuroSurge can also be used with iPods and cameras.
Even if your computer is compatible with 220-240 volt electricity, if the surge protector isn’t, it will eventually overheat and your laptop may get fried!

You can use EuroSurge in France without an adaptor. For other countries, one or more adaptors may be necessary. If you’re not sure, ask the retailer or consult their website for specific information on each country.
You can either buy a kit with a set of adaptors for every country in the world or just get one for a specific location.

For personal appliances (hair dryers, cell phone chargers, shavers etc.) you will need a converter/transformer and a grounded adapter plug.
The adaptor on the left will work in France and Germany. Again, you can buy a set of adaptors for every country in the world.
Remember: First you plug in the adaptor, then the converter and then the appliance.
Carry-on Luggage
I always keep these adapters and converters in my carry-on luggage for obvious reasons.
Magellan’s offers a wide selection of travel products including clothing, luggage, packs and accessories as well as useful travel tips.
