Tips from a Seasoned Traveler

A reader from the UK, who’s been traveling to Corsica for years, has kindly provided his reviews on two campsites, Les Oliviers on Ile Rousse on the northern coast of the island and Tuani in the outskirts of Corte, near the mountains.

Update

There are two campsites in Corsica called Les Oliviers. Yesterday, I failed to notice Robert’s first comment where he clearly indicated the campsite is on Ile Rousse and not in Porto. I apologize for the oversight.

Camping Les Oliviers is located in Ile Rousse, ”just a 10-minute walk east from the town centre. As someone who’s stayed there over 20 times I can’t recommend it highly enough!”, writes Robert.

Ile Rousse is a popular seaside resort in the Balagne region located within short driving distance of Algajola, Calvi and Sant’Antonino.

Camping Tuani in the Restonica valley “is in a stunning location” nestled in the woods overlooking the river. The campsite is located halfway between Corte and the Bergeries de Grotelle parking. If you don’t have a car, a minibus service provides transportation to the Restonica valley from Corte.

From Camping Tuani to the Bergeries the Grotelle parking, it’s an easy hike over mostly flat terrain. The small café marks the start of the trail that leads to the twin lakes of Melo and Capitello.

I totally missed camping Tuani since I hiked from Chez César’s restaurant through a trail in the woods opposite the river, completely bypassing that portion of the river. This is why contributions from readers like Robert are so valuable and always welcome! You can read more of his comments here.
