A winter vacation in Corsica can provide a relaxing and authentic experience, a chance to better mingle with the locals and experience a gentler pace of life. Yes, the days are shorter, many businesses are closed, and the water is cold but you’ll also avoid tourist crowds and benefit from lower rates on airfares and hotel rooms.

The seaside landscapes are fabulous with majestic snow covered mountains in the background. If you have access to a car, you could drive to the interior of the island and enjoy the magnificent scenery of snow covered peaks up close.

Winter is also the best time to enjoy some of Corsica’s rich culinary specialties: Suppa Corsa, a rich thick peasant soup, wild boar stew cooked in rosemary and served with carrots and olives, roasted lamb accompanied by a robust red wine… I’m getting hungry just thinking about it. Corsican food will keep you warm and give you the energy you’ll need for winter hiking.

Winter Hiking

Awe inspiring solitude and the beauty of fresh snow on pine trees, rocks, lakes and summits. How about walking all day when the air is crisp without the scorching heat of a mid-summer day? Ok, evenings can be rough but you could hike during the day and spend the night at a Bed and Breakfast instead of freezing at night in a tent.

Here’s one way you can explore Corsica’s winter wonderland while enjoying the comfort of a warm and cozy B&B in the heart of Corsica.

If you’re worried about the cost of travel, a winter vacation in Corsica maybe just right for you. March is an excellent month to visit and air fares at that time are a bargain.
